From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the party access places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Strategists groups.
